Kite spots Evia Greece

There are two main kite spots in Evia, Greece. Kite beach Lefkadi which works best from March till mid June with thermal wind and Marmari kite beach, which works with Meltemi from mid June to end of October. Kite beaches are wide and sandy, water are flat to choppy. All kite services are avalable at both kite spots.

Many hotels, villas and apartment for rent in Evia You can stay anywhere in the island, and rent a car or a motorbike to ride to the kite spots.

Lefkadi, Greece Kite Spot

Lefkadi Kitepark is a known destination for windsurf and kitesurf and has good Kiteboarding school. The ideal wind conditions of Southern Evoikos gulf combined with the wide hazards free sandy beach of Lefkadi make the place perfect for learning and practicing kiteboarding.

The kite center is located at the kite beach, 10 minutes walk from the picturesque village of Lefkadi. Kite there includes great views of the twin volcano's and a volcano sunset view from the kite school snack-bar.

Lefkadi Kitepark offers unique wind conditions for kite beginners intermediates or pro kitesurfer's. The geographical location between Greece mainland and Evoia island, creates thermal wind that blow almost daily after 3. Wind strength of is 15 to 25 knots with side shore direction which makes the spot completely safe and ideal for practicing kite. Best kite sizes for Lefkadi Kitepark are 12 and 9 but 7 meter kites are often used as well. Best wind directions are Southeast and East but the spot also works with South, Southwest and West winds. In the area of Lefkadi you can kite 85% of the days from April till mid June.

Big Sands Marmari kitepark is a spot of unique beauty and unmatched wind conditions. The kite center is located on the beach and just five minutes drive from the small fishermen village of Marmari. In front of the kite center is a big sandy beach with plenty of space to set up your equipment and land/launch your kite. Highlight of the spot is the amazing sunset and the view to Petalios Islands complex.
The little village of Marmari in the south of Euboea is a tourism destination recently discovered by European kiters who mainly want to relax in a quiet multi activity destination, enjoy fresh and delicious greek plates and pure nature.
Night life in the area of Marmari is not one of the favourites but there are a few bars that play international music and serve fresh made cocktails. Karistos, which is 15 minutes drive from Marmari, has many bars and plenty of people both tourists and locals that party till the sunrise.

Marmari Greec Wind Conditions

Big sands Marmari Kitepark is one of the most guaranteed wind related sports destinations in Greece. Due to the shape of the mountains surrounding the village of Marmari and the small straight in between Euboea island and Petalios islands which create Venturi effect. It mainly works with Meltemi (northern) wind.
You can expect winds from 15 to 35 knots. So, 12 to 7 meter kites would be a good choice but mainly 9m is a good size. The spot also works with South, West and North West winds. An important note is that Karistos which is the biggest city in the area and 10 minutes drive from Marmari offers a 20km coast line with beautiful blue waters and nice waves when south winds blow.

Metro to Suburban Rail Station-Stathmos Larissis Stathmos Larissis-Kato Patissia(Just in front of the metro station you will find the Regional bus station-Ktel Express Service to Chalkida every 30 minutes.Trip to Chalkida by bus lasts 1 hour) From Chalkida bus station departures the bus to Lefkadi Kitepark every 25 minutes

By Car

Route from the airport to Chalkida by car lasts 50 minutes.

Public transport

Airport to Port of Rafina - Take the direct Regional Bus Service (KTEL) to the port of Rafina. The line departs from the Arrivals Level, opposite the airport hotel (Sofitel) Alternatively you can hire a taxi(route to the port lasts 15 minutes and cost approximatelly 15 euros) From Port of Rafina you take the ferry to Marmari(trip lasts 50 minutes)

By Car

Route from the airport to Rafina lasts 15 minutes.Then you take the ferry to Marmari(trip lasts 50 minutes)
